The offshore melon season is coming to an end; domestic and Mexican supplies will start shipping the week of May 15.

Cantaloupe

• Limited offshore cantaloupe supplies will continue to ship for the next 7-10 days
• Mexican melons are now available on the West Coast market
• The Athena variety is shipping out of Florida
• The domestic Arizona/California desert season will begin in a limited manner the week of May 15; size will be dominated by 12- and 15-count fruit for the first several weeks
• Expect steady to lower markets as the domestic season begins to ramp up through late May

Honeydew

• Limited offshore honeydew stocks will continue to ship for the next 7-10 days
• Mexican melons are now available on the West Coast market
• The domestic Arizona/California desert season will begin in a limited manner the week of May 22; Size will be dominated by 8- and 9-count melons at the start of the season
• Expect stable to lower prices as the domestic season ramps up in late May/early June
