Although Brussels sprout markets remain elevated, they’ve begun inching down; domestic supplies are increasing.
- Markon First Crop (MFC) and Ready-Set-Serve (RSS) Brussels Sprouts are available; packer label may be substituted to fill orders as needed
- Late-season quality issues, including yellowing/off color, bolting, and insect pressure, as well as recent heavy rain continue to lower Mexican yields
- The size profile remains skewed to smaller sprouts, as growers harvest immature fields; jumbo-size sprouts are limited
- Production is ongoing in Oxnard, California
- The Salinas season will begin next week, but fields are well behind schedule due to cooler weather throughout the spring planting period
- Expect elevated markets to persist through mid-July, at minimum, until Salinas production ramps up
