UPDATE: MIXED BERRIES

October 16, 2024

Blueberry supplies took a major hit when container shipments were prevented from unloading due to back-to-back hurricanes. Blackberry supplies have increased but quality has not, keeping volume low. Raspberry stocks are starting to increase.

Blueberries

  • Demand exceeds current availability
  • Quality is average
  • The Pacific Northwest season has ended
  • Offshore shipments are not being unloaded due to recent hurricanes
  • Expect tight supplies and steady pricing

Blackberries

  • California stocks are insufficient
  • Mexican yields are beginning to increase
  • Quality is fair; soft skins and red cells have been reported
  • Supplies should increase at the end of next week
  • Pricing will remain elevated

Raspberries

  • The Baja season has ended
  • Growers have begun shipping limited quantities out of Central Mexico; stocks will increase throughout the month
  • Quality is fair; issues include leaky berries with light crumbling (individual cells separate from the berry)
  • Demand is steady
