Temperatures in the Arizona/California desert growing region have increased to slightly above average levels over the past several days and should remain in the upper 70s to low 80s through the rest of the week. These warmer temperatures have aided plant growth for row crops, making it possible to achieve Markon First Crop (MFC) weight specs for 24-count Liner Lettuce for the first time since the season began in early November.
Windy conditions are forecast for the weekend, strengthening Monday, December 9, due to a cold air mass entering the region that could cause temperatures to dip again and possibly cause lettuce ice to develop by Tuesday, December 10.
Markon inspectors will continue working with suppliers to secure the best quality and yields possible.
