Receiving Inspecting:

Good quality nectarines should be plump and well-colored with smooth, unblemished skins. Avoid shriveled or rotting nectarines.

Storage Handling:

Short-term storage recommendation (7 days or less)

  • 32-36° F/0-2° C
  • 90-98% relative humidity
14 to 28 days.

Uneven ripening, shriveling, and flavor loss are signs of immature fruit. Flesh browning, mealy texture, and poor flavor indicate chill injury.

Usage Ideas:

  • Toss arugula with sliced nectarines, beet ribbons, crumbled feta cheese, and pecan vinaigrette.
  • Layer sliced nectarines, blackberries, and honey-sweetened Mascarpone cheese in parfait glasses.
