Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Broccoli is being harvested in Arizona, Northern Mexico, and Central Mexico (loading in South Texas). Expect industrywide prices to remain steady to slightly lower as volume continues increasing next month.
Arizona/California Desert
- Supplies are readily available
- New crop Arizona/California desert region supplies are exhibiting strong quality
- Recent weather has provided ideal growing conditions, but some lots are experiencing overnight frosts that reduce yields and may lead to small crown size
- Supply exceeds meager demand, resulting in depressed markets while supplies continue to come online
- Expect sufficient supplies and low markets for the next 10-14 days, at minimum
Mexico
- Mexican-grown product is available in South Texas; quality is very good
- Markets are steady at lower levels than domestic prices
