Central America

• Offshore shipments are extremely limited as a result of Tropical Storm Sara
  • Flooding led to crop loss and persistent quality issues in subsequent lots
  • Yields are low, delaying shipments from Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Honduras
  • Growers began replanting fields in early December
• Next week’s supply projections are minimal
  • Fewer containers will arrive than this week
  • Slightly better volume is expected for the week of January 13 as replanted lots and secondary growing areas come online

• Markon recommends increased order lead time to maximize coverage over the next two to three weeks
  • Size substitutions may be recommended per availability
  • Late orders or additions may lead to prorates or shortages

• Expect elevated markets and tight supplies over the next three weeks

Honeydew

Central American/Mexican

• Mexican yields (crossing into Nogales, Arizona) are minimal
  • Production is winding down in Northern Mexico
  • Expect low volume from Southern Mexico through February
