Blueberry supplies took a major hit when container shipments were prevented from unloading due to back-to-back hurricanes. Blackberry supplies have increased but quality has not, keeping volume low. Raspberry stocks are starting to increase.
Blueberries
- Demand exceeds current availability
- Quality is average
- The Pacific Northwest season has ended
- Offshore shipments are not being unloaded due to recent hurricanes
- Expect tight supplies and steady pricing
Blackberries
- California stocks are insufficient
- Mexican yields are beginning to increase
- Quality is fair; soft skins and red cells have been reported
- Supplies should increase at the end of next week
- Pricing will remain elevated
Raspberries
- The Baja season has ended
- Growers have begun shipping limited quantities out of Central Mexico; stocks will increase throughout the month
- Quality is fair; issues include leaky berries with light crumbling (individual cells separate from the berry)
- Demand is steady
